Harrogate Herald - 1st December 1915
Trooper Alec Hull writes :
Just a few lines to thank you for your welcome paper, which you
so kindly send every week, and which we enjoy reading so much. Our
squadron is in dug-outs just behind the firing line. We go up to the
trenches every night on working parties in company with a lot of
more regular cavalry, so you can tell we fully understand what it is
to be over the knees in mud and water, and I am sorry to say we have
had one or two casualties, although all the Harrogate lads are
keeping fit and well. We often meet the 5th West Yorks, and, of
course, have many a cheery word and talk of old times at Harrogate
will close now, with best wishes for your paper.
