Roll of Honour

News has been received that Signaller H Jackson, son of Mr & Mrs Joseph Jackson, Etna Creek, Australia, was killed in action on November 14th last. Mr & Mrs Jackson lived at Fellbeck, Pateley Bridge, up to two or three years ago, when the emigrated to Australia. Many members of the family had preceded them, including the soldier named and his brother. Signaller Jackson, who paid a visit to his old home only a few months ago, was one of the earliest Central Queenslanders to offer his services in the interests of his country, and though he was not one of the first party that landed in Gallipoli, he was there in the first stages of the war and remained until the close. he was also amongst the first Queenslanders to see active service in France. He was twenty-five years of age. Another son of Mr & Mrs Jackson, Private J W Jackson, who was twenty-two years of age, was killed in France on the 21st September last. The Mayor of the town has conveyed to Mr & Mrs Jackson the sympathy of the King and Queen and the Commonwealth Government in he loss they have sustained. The sympathy of their friends in the old country will also be extended to them in their double loss.

Roll of Honour

Two brothers, natives of Fellbeck, Pateley Bridge, have been killed in action. Signaller H Jackson, of the Australian Forces, fell on November 20th, 916, and Private J William Jackson was killed by shell fire when bandaging his officer's wounds at the battle of Flers in September, 1916. He was with the NZEF.
