Private W L Johnson says :
I don't forget the good times I spent at Harrogate
previous to coming out here, it now being sixteen months since I
came to France. I have been in that time in various parts of the
country amongst the fighting. My old motto is "Hope for the
best, and roll on peace and back to dear old Blighty", which I
trust will be very soon. I now and again keep coming across one or
two Harrogate and Knaresborough lads in other units. I met Wilf
Preston at the base before last Xmas. I used to work at the same
shop as he did previous to joining the colours. I was very pleased
to meet him. Here's my best wishes to the Herald staff and yourself.
