Harrogate Herald - 25th July 1917
W H Breare letter
I have an interesting story of the Herald to tell this week. Many
of my readers will remember Mr Millwaters, formerly of the
Alexandra Hotel, then the White Hart. His son Fred Millwaters,
who married a daughter of the late Mr George Holmes, of Harrogate,
is in the Army, and went first to Salonica, then to France, where he
was hoping to meet his brother-in-law, Trooper Paul Holmes, of the
Yorkshire Hussars, whom he had not seen for ten years. The latter
was wounded, and one day Millwaters saw a paper on a road in
France. He picked it up and found it was the Herald. On the picture
page was the photo of his brother-in-law Paul, giving particulars as
to his wound. Being a former resident here he was naturally
delighted to once more see a Harrogate paper, and having read it
through sent it home to his wife at Liverpool, where it will
doubtless remain as an interesting souvenir of the war.
