Harrogate Herald - 25th April 1917
Private Charles Moore writes :
We have arrived at our destination at last. We landed in France
on March 31st after a rough sea voyage, and stopped at a rest camp
for two days and then to another. We left in cattle trucks for a
village further up the line and stopped at a farmhouse for two days.
Then travelled in motor 'buses to a village where we are now. Our
work is to repair the roads, which are in a terrible state. I have
never been in this part of France before. This is my second time out
here. I was for ten months with the 1/5th West Yorks. Since leaving
the West Yorks, after being wounded, I appeared before two medical
boards and got B2. I was transferred to this regiment six weeks ago,
and would be much obliged if you could send me the Herald every week
as you need do.
