Roll of Honour
Second Lieutenant A G Leighton Mullen, son of Mr H J
Mullen, of Harrogate, was wounded by shrapnel on march 5th. The
shell burst on the side of he trench, and his fellow-officer was
killed outright, he himself remaining unconscious until his arrival
in hospital. Lieutenant Mullen enlisted in the 5th West Yorks
in August, 1914, having just left school, at the age of 17. He
served in the ranks in France for thirteen months, being gassed once
and suffering from trench feet twice. He was then sent to England,
and trained for his commission at Oxford, finally being gazetted to
the 27th Durham Light Infantry. Lieutenant Mullen is now in
Winchester Hospital, where we hope he will make a complete recovery.
