Harrogate Herald - 20th January 1915
Private G N Nelmes, eldest son of Mr and Mrs G Nelmes,
of Knaresborough, is the first Knaresborough man to have died from
sickness whilst on active service. He joined the Royal Army Medical
Corps in September, and was attached to the 35th Field Ambulance at
Hillsborough Barracks, Sheffield. He contracted a chill, pneumonia
and bronchitis developing, and he died suddenly on Friday. His
father was an old soldier, having served 28 years in the Royal Army
Medical Corps.
