Roll of Honour
Mrs Pollard, of Knaresborough, has received a War Office
intimation that her husband, Company QMS J Pollard (King's
Own Yorkshire Light Infantry) died from wounds at a casualty
clearing station on December 30th. Writing on 31st December the
Sister says : Dear Mrs Pollard, I am grieved to tell you that
in spite of all we could do for your husband, CSM J Pollard
passed away peacefully last night. He became unconscious and
appeared to suffer no pain. He will be buried today in the soldier's
graveyard, and his personal property will be returned to you in due
course through the War Office. With deepest sympathy, Yours
