Mrs Powell, Gracious Street, Knaresborough, received official notification from the War Office on Saturday of the death of her son, Private Harry Powell, Durham Light Infantry, killed in action on July 1st, 1916. Private Powell was previously reported missing. He was in his twenty-sixth year. The following message also accompanied the intimation : The King commands me to assure you of their true sympathy of His Majesty and the Queen in your sorrow. Derby.
