Harrogate Herald – 30th May 1917
Letters
Bandsman W Russell writes :
Thank you very much for your kindness in sending me
the Herald. I look forward to its arrival now as one of my best
friends. It is also a paper that does much service, as you can
always find another chum to pass it to when you have finished with
it. I read in one of your papers of your intention of having a
holiday - or rest, shall I say? - but I was surprised on reading
further to find you could only risk about three days, and I thought
at the time the amount of work you must have to do you had earned a
much longer rest than that. It showed me how much your heart and
soul must be in the good work you are doing for th boys out here. We
have done a lot of playing since we came out. There is no doubt
about the Germans getting the worst of it, but for all that he is
not finished with it yet.
