Letters
Writing to Miss E Cullen, [Directory shows spelling
as Cullan] 2 Wellington Square, Harrogate, J Schofield says
:
We have not time to write many letters now, and I am
glad to say I am going on A1 at present. I think you know Jim
Thompson, [Could be referring to the family James W Thompson, joiner
and undertaker, St Peter's Square : Residence - 1 Kensington Square]
out of the next yard. I came across him the other day, and then I
had to look three or four times before I knew him. Another chap I
met was young Johnson, [Probably son of Tom Johnson, milk dealer, 29
Valley Mount] out of Valley Mount. Jim did not look as well as when
he was in the band. He told me he did not know many chaps in his
lot.
