Bert Scholes writes : 

We in the West must put our shoulders together and give them that "big push" that has been on everyone's tongue for a long while. The worst of it means terrible loss of life. The other week I lost a brother-in-law, also another wounded. There will be many a vacant chair in homes after this war, but, thank God, we are fighting for our children's sakes and future generations.
