Harrogate Herald - 5th September 1917
Letters
Private G Slack says :
I am pleased to say we are a good few miles behind the line out
for a rest, and again we have seen that rare sight - shops and
civilians. I had a ride on the bike the other day, and came across T
Lowrey, who used to be at the Opera House in the gallery pay box. He
tells me I am the first Harrogate lad he has seen since he came into
this country. I have been a bit luckier than him, as at last I have
got someone in the company who worked at the Queen Hotel. His name
is Shaw. I read your paper then pass it on to him. He tells
me you are a brick to send papers out like that, and your letter to
the boys, he says, it is a treat.
