Harrogate Herald - 30th May 1917
Letters
Excusing his delay in writing on account of being
very busy with the Bulgars, Gunner Shipman says :
I have never seen
any Harrogate lads here yet, but when I was in Malta I had a letter
from Private Bassham, in RAMC, and he is getting on fine, and I was
going to answer when I was ordered to pack up and get ready for
where I am now, sorry to say. I saw his photo in the Herald, and it
just reminded me that I ought to write to him, so I will at the
first possible chance. I would be much obliged if one of your
readers would send me a wristlet watch, as they are very useful when
on telephone duty and going out on lines. Am also very short of
cigarettes.
