Harrogate Herald - 7th February 1917
Letters
Sapper F L Simpson says :
Just a few lines to thank you for the Herald which I am getting
all right. I am the only Harrogate man in this party, but I have two
or three Yorkshire pals from Leeds, Hull, and Ripon, and when I have
read the news the paper goes round. Now the paper is coming I get to
know how the old town is going on. It is the best news I get, and I
am always glad when it arrives. I should very much like to meet some
of the boys from Harrogate, but I have had no luck up to now. In
fact, I have not come across a Yorkshire regiment, but I hope to do
so soon. I might say that I am very comfortable in billets at this
place, and get very good food, plenty to smoke, and a good bed, so
the lads here are pretty well done to. Will you remember me to Mr
Ogden. I know him very well. I don't think he knows that I am out
here. I will close now, again thanking you for the paper and wishing
you and the paper and the old town a prosperous New Year.
