Fred Simpson, 37 Providence Terrace, Harrogate, was called up in
February last, attained his 19th birthday on the 18th August, sent
to France on September 19th and wounded on the 19th October. He is
in hospital in France. He has had two operations on his arm and had
the shrapnel removed. He had several teeth knocked out, but his leg
is going on nicely and he hopes to be in a hospital in England in a
few weeks, as his arm will take some time before it is any use. He
worked as hairdresser for Mr Sibson, Back James Street, for five
years. His elder brother, Private William Simpson, who is in
Mesopotamia, was wounded in April, but is quite better now.
