W H Breare letter
Will T B Spackman send me his address? I have
a football for him and his pals. Harrogate boys will remember Mr
Kirk, the chemist, whose place was in Montpellier Parade. Little
Miss A L Kirk, his daughter, who is aged nine, of 2 St Mark's
Avenue, has sent me one, so I can fulfill Spackman's request.

To continue with Starbeck, Private Bootland,
RWK, son of Mr A Bootland, Regent Place, Starbeck, has
likewise been to see me. He left the front on Christmas Day. Has
been two years three months in the Army without being sick or
wounded. He told me that T B Spackman, of Harrogate, is at
Divisional Headquarters, and the only man near him. Driver Coates
used to be in the division, but he has lost sight of him. Bootland
used to be at the station refreshment room, then he went to work at
Hartlepool at the Grand Hotel, from whence he enlisted.
