Harrogate Herald - 3rd January 1920
Ex-Private Albert Thompson, son of Mr Albert Thompson,
Market House, Harrogate, has returned home. On the outbreak of the
war he joined the 4th Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force, at
Esteven, and having been disabled in the war he has now returned
home to take up a course of training for the post of a sanitary
inspector. Prior to the war he served in the Canadian volunteer
force, the 20th Border Regiment. It is a singular coincidence that
the fifty men who volunteered at the first recruiting meeting held
by the Mayor of Esteven have all come through the war although many
are disabled. Another son, Mr Reg Thompson, was killed in the
Somme advance of 1916. Mr Albert Thompson (junr) has recently
received an illuminated address signed by the Mayor of Esteven.
