Roll of Honour
Deep sympathy is felt for Mr and Mrs Thornton, of
Kettlesing, who have just lost their only son, Roland Thornton.
He was rather severely wounded just over a year ago by shrapnel in
the leg. After several months in hospital he got going again, but
had a slight limp. He was working on a farm at Baildon, when an
abscess formed near his eye, probably owing to poison still in his
system from the shrapnel. His parents last Friday morning received a
letter from him to the effect that he was going on nicely, then
shortly after a telephone message came that he had passed away. The
internment was on Tuesday. He was respected by al that knew him, and
much sympathy is felt for his parents, who have lost their all, and Miss
E Stott, his fiancée.
