Harrogate Herald - 13th March 1918
Breare letter
Corporal G Coates, Army Service Corps, headquarters, who lives at
Woodbine Terrace, often had lively times going up with rations to
the first line. He has been out three years. He came to see me and
returns to France on Monday week. Has been in hospital twice with
rheumatism. Only two of his companions are left out of those who
first went with him. His two sons, Private Henry Coates, Royal
Flying Corps, is going out soon to France, and Private J L Coates,
West Yorks, who has been wounded twice and three times gassed,
expects to go back to the Front. Corporal Coates came across a few
West Yorks lads last June. Mr Voakes, chaplain of his
Division, comes from the Harrogate district.
