Harrogate Herald - 5th December 1917
Letters
Private Bert Vowles, after expressing appreciation of the
Herald, says :
I am sorry to read of the many poor lads that have gone west.
What splendid work you are doing for the boys. It's a pleasure to
read some of he letters from the boys acknowledging your gifts.
Those that are lucky enough to get home will give you a good time, I
hope. I sent my wife some photographs of the great fire we had in Salonica.
What a sight! I have been out here eight months and have kept well.
I hope this time next year to be home again. We have several
Harrogate and vicinity men about here, and always pass the Herald on
to them.
