Harrogate Herald – 29th January 1919
Private G R Walker writes :
Lately I have been able to pass the Herald on to a chum of mine
who is interested in Harrogate. he is now resident in Leeds, but
lived in Harrogate for about twenty years. Perhaps you will remember
young George Mortimer, of the Montpellier Hotel. He sometimes gets
the paper from home, but now I see that he gets it every week. He is
in my Company, and we have many a long talk of the old place. We are
now in Germany in a place called Vernich, close to Cologne, where we
are staying for Christmas, then going on again a little further, I
believe. The people so far have treated us well indeed, much better
than I ever expected.
