Harrogate Herald - 8th December 1915
Private A Wilson, King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, who
hails from Darley, writes :
November 15th, 1918. I hope you will forgive me for not thanking
you earlier for the Nidderdale Herald, which you have sent so
regularly. I am an old Darleyite, and I like to read the local news.
I notice photos and see names of several people that I know, but
have not yet met a Nidderdale man in the King's Own Yorkshire Light
Infantry. I have been out at the Front about five months, and have
spent the greatest part of that time at Kemmel, but have since been
at Vermelles, Loos, and Hulloch. We had a warm time of it
occasionally, and I have lost several valuable friends. We are now
in camp in a far-off country, where there is no fighting. Perhaps
you will know where, but owing to military reasons I am unable to
tell you. I will now conclude. Wishing you and your paper continued
success.
