Roll of Honour
Private J M Wilson (Northumberland Fusiliers), son-in-law
of Mrs Ormsby, 26 Union Street, Harrogate, was killed in action on
13th June. Mrs Wilson has received the following letter from
the Wesleyan Chaplain :
May God who is the source of all strength and comfort prepare and
empower you to receive sad news. Your husband, Private J M Wilson,
of the Northumberland Fusiliers, has given the utmost for his home,
friends, and country. he was on night work with his comrades, and it
was due to a machine gun bullet. You will be relieved to hear that
he suffered nothing, because he was unconscious in the few moments
left after he was hit. We laid him to rest in he cemetery at
-------- today. Captain Stora, Lieutenants Roberts and Whitham, with
the men of your husband's platoon, were present. We all joined in
prayer for you and his friends at this service. It will be very dark
and hard for you just now, but many of us out here are praying for
you. The Everlasting Arms are always underneath those who sorrow.
May your dark days be lightened by the companionship of the Christ.
In true sympathy.
