Harrogate Herald - 24th November 1915
Private J R Wood writes : Allow me first of
all to thank you for the kindness in sending me the Knaresborough
Post, which I have received each week. We have had some very rainy
weather of late, and yesterday (November 17th) we had our first fall
of snow. Hoping you are in good health and wishing your paper every
success.

Harrogate Herald - 29th December 1915
The committee of Knaresborough ladies who organised
a Xmas gift fund for sending parcels to local soldiers and sailors
with the expeditionary forces and on the high seas have been deeply
gratified and richly rewarded with a shoal of appreciative letters
received by Miss J M Alexander (hon. secretary) from the boys on
service for King and country. We have pleasure in inserting the
first batch, and others will be given in subsequent issues :
December 19th - Dear Madam, Allow me first of all to thank you,
as hon. Secretary of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Comforts Committee,
for the parcel which has been forwarded to me. I am sure a nicer
parcel could not have been sent, and the contents will be thoroughly
enjoyed. I saw in the Knaresborough Post what a good concert you had
had, and only wished I could have been present to enjoy the
entertainment. In conclusion, I wish you a happy Christmas and the
brightest of a New Year. Again thanking you, I remain, yours truly, J
R Wood.
