The history of the Harrogate and District General Hospital

 

Property bought

Pursuant to the wise policy of acquiring small properties in the neighbourhood of the hospital for the housing of members of the ancillary staff, the following purchases were made: in 1945, No 10, Rydal Road, for the accommodation of the matron at a cost of £1,410; in 1946, Nos 2 and 4, Rydal Road, were bought for £1,400 each for the housing of hospital sisters; No 45, Swarcliffe Road, for £1,200 for the superintendent radiographer; and in 1947, No 20, Swarcliffe Road, at £1,350 for the chief laboratory technician. Later on, power has been granted to the house committee to acquire, at a cost not exceeding £3,000, any suitable property which may subsequently fall into the market.
