Knaresborough, Butcher
To my wife Mary Eteson my house in which I now live with all the household goods and furniture and after her death to my daughter
Mary Eteson.
To my wife an annuity of £50. If my estate cannot provide then my son
William Eteson and my son John Eteson and my son-in-law
William Robinson and his wife Elizabeth Robinson shall make up the deficiency in equal thirds.
To my son William Eteson the close of land on Harrison Hill containing 5 acres and also the buildings in Knaresborough which I received in exchange from the late
Sir Thomas Turner Slingsby chargeable with £100 each to my daughters
Mary Eteson and Elizabeth Robinson. And a further £100 unto the Trustees later named in trust for my grandchildren the sons and daughters of my late daughter
Catherine Stead.
To my son John Eteson the house in Knaresborough now occupied by
John Dobson and also the piece of land now occupied by himself and near to the house occupied by him, containing 8¾ sq. Yd. And also the piece of land in Knaresborough behind the house occupied by
John Dobson. And also as much of the land situated on the South West side of a line made in a straight direction from the North end of the house occupied by
John Dobson to the wall dividing the privies owned by John Eteson from the privies owned by
James Rhodes and George Brown. And also as much of the land on the South West side of the wall now erected from the privies to the wall dividing the property in the occupation of
John Swales from mine.
To my son John Eteson the road reserved to me from the North West part of the yard occupied by
John Simpson, James Rhodes, John Dobson and George Brown over the yard occupied by
John Eteson into Windsor Lane.
There is always to be a road from Windsor Lane near the pump beyond the North end corner of the house occupied by
Michael Scruton for the use of the occupants of there premises devised to my son-in-law
William Robinson and Elizabeth his wife.
To my son John Eteson the piece of land at Harrison Hill now in the occupation of my sons
William Eteson and John Eteson chargeable with £30 each to my daughters
Mary Eteson and Elizabeth Robinson and another £30 to the Trustees later named for the children of my late daughter
Catherine Stead.
To my daughter Mary Eteson the houses I purchased from Thomas
Knowles.
To my son-in-law William Robinson and my daughter Elizabeth Robinson the premises in Knaresborough occupied by
John Linsley, William Bramley, John Lewty, George Brown, Richard Holmes and
Ellen Holmes, and also a close of land at Forest Lane Head currently occupied by me.
To my sons William Eteson and John Eteson and my son-in-law
William Robinson the premises occupied by Michael Scruton, John Simpson, James Rhodes, Robert Conn and
Charles Wray , and one fifth part of the residue of my personal estate On Trust to sell and use for the benefit of the children of my late daughter
Catherine Stead.
The remaining four fifths of the residue of my personal estate to my sons
William Eteson and John Eteson and my daughters Mary Eteson and
Elizabeth Robinson.
I appoint William Eteson, John Eteson and William Robinson as Trustees and Executors.
