SOME DATES |
St Bartholomew's
Day, 1902 - First Service in the iron church or "Tin Tabernacle."
January, 1908 - Nave and baptistery dedicated. The High Altar was in
the baptistery, and therefore facing west.
St Barnabas' Day, 1914 - The nave, chancel, St Wilfrid's and St
Raphael's chapels were consecrated by Bishop Drury of Ripon.
July, 1928 - The south end of the transept, Chapel of the Holy
Spirit, and the north end of the transept with porch and organ were
dedicated by Bishop Strong of Ripon.
Easter Week, 1934 - The completed vestries, cloisters, parish hall
and verger's cottage were used for the first time.
8th June, 1935 - The Lady Chapel behind the High Altar was dedicated
by William Temple, Archbishop of York. |
